Itinerary
We’ve created a 14-day sample itinerary showcasing the ultimate India school trip, blending volunteering, travel, adventure, and cultural immersion. While this provides a great starting point, we understand every school has unique goals. That’s why we offer bespoke itineraries tailored to your needs - whether you want to adjust the trip length, focus solely on volunteering, or combine it with travel experiences. Whatever your preferences, we’ll ensure your India school trip is affordable, structured, safe, and unforgettable.
The next day begins with a hearty Indian breakfast before diving into your orientation. The PMGY team will provide an overview of what to expect during your stay, covering topics like health and safety, cultural differences, local customs, and your trip itinerary. After a filling lunch, you’ll head out to explore the local area, visiting a nearby temple and bustling markets. The evening concludes with a traditional Indian dinner, preparing you for an exciting start to your volunteering journey.
With your help, the program aims to improve living conditions and provide tangible support to the Faridabad community. Whether mixing paint, moving materials, or helping restore essential spaces, you’ll play a vital role in these hands-on initiatives. Make sure to bring suncream, a water bottle, and clothes you don’t mind getting messy! By the end of your placement, you’ll see the direct results of your efforts while continuing to make a difference through additional community projects in the afternoons.
After lunch, you’ll contribute to a local childcare project, either within the slum community or at a nearby refugee camp, where families often struggle to provide early education for their children. With energy, enthusiasm, and creativity, you’ll play a key role in making each day at the centres meaningful and fun. Your tasks will include teaching English, helping with homework, leading hygiene workshops, and organising engaging games and activities. These efforts not only brighten the children’s days but also foster their confidence, creativity, and joy. While challenges may arise, the rewards of connecting with and supporting these children will make your afternoons both fulfilling and enjoyable.
In the evenings, you’ll dive into Indian culture with activities such as Bollywood movie nights, pottery classes, and cooking lessons. These experiences provide a deeper understanding of the local way of life, making your days both meaningful and action-packed.
Students will teach English and Maths to children aged 3-16 in basic, overcrowded classrooms within the slum communities. With enthusiasm, creativity, and a proactive attitude, they will lead lessons, support local teachers, and introduce subjects like Science or Geography to broaden the children’s learning experience. The opportunity to work directly with these passionate and eager learners, despite the challenging conditions, offers a deeply rewarding and impactful experience for volunteers.
Afternoons will be spent at the childcare project, building on the connections you’ve made during your first week. With each session, you’ll see the progress and joy your efforts bring to the children. Evening activities include yoga and a Bollywood dance class, providing a fun and active way to experience Indian culture.
On day 12, you’ll explore Charan Mandir for breathtaking views and visit the Chand Baori Stepwell, a mesmerising ancient water reservoir. The day ends with a visit to Jagat Shiromani Temple, known for its historical and religious significance. In the evening, you’ll travel to Agra, ready for an early start the next day.

Meals
You will enjoy three meals daily during your school trip to India. While volunteering in Faridabad, meals will be served at the accommodation, and during travel days, you’ll dine at local restaurants offering buffet or set menu options. Most meals will feature traditional Indian cuisine, primarily vegetarian, with our team ensuring they remain flavourful but not overly spicy. Western dishes will also occasionally be included in the itinerary, providing a varied dining experience.
Indian cuisine is renowned for its diversity and rich flavours, with dishes like biryani—a famous mixed rice dish—highlighting its culinary excellence. Meals are freshly prepared each day, ensuring high quality and authenticity. Western-style meals such as pasta and vegetarian burgers will also be served occasionally for variety. It’s important to avoid tap water in India, but bottled water is readily available throughout the trip for your convenience and safety.
* Our team will do their best to cater for dietary requirements, but this cannot always be guaranteed. Volunteers may need to purchase additional ingredients at their own expense. Please note any dietary requirements in your application and re-iterate them to the local team on arrival. For major concerns, contact the PMGY International Team before confirming your place on the program.
