The Original & Best

We Lead, Others Follow

At PMGY, we’ve been setting the standard for safe, structured, and impactful volunteering for over a decade. Since 2011, we’ve supported thousands of volunteers across the globe and earned the trust of thousands of volunteers, schools, and universities who return to us time and again.

We’ve built PMGY around real relationships with our in-country teams, hands-on involvement in every program we run, and a commitment to responsible and transparent volunteering.

But as with any successful organisation, we’ve seen others attempt to follow our lead. Some have copied our destinations. Others have replicated everything we do which often confuses our volunteer network.

It’s easy to throw together a flashy website and imitate what we’ve built. But scratch beneath the surface, and you’ll quickly see what sets PMGY apart.

We are a team of real people who live and breathe this work. From the UK office to our full-time, experienced staff in Sri Lanka, Ghana, Vietnam, and beyond, we’re here to support our volunteers every step of the way – before, during, and after their trip.

When you join PMGY, you’re not just joining a program. You’re joining a network built on trust, safety, and experience. Our in-country teams don’t change year to year. They’re part of the PMGY family, just like you will be.

Other organisations may try to follow our blueprint, but they can’t replicate the foundations we’ve built — and that’s why thousands of volunteers choose PMGY as the original and most trusted name in volunteer travel.

What Sets Us Apart From The Mighty Roar

What Questions To Ask

How To Choose The Right Volunteer Organisation

There are hundreds of websites offering international volunteer placements and on the face of things everyone can look the same. Some are well-established, credible, and responsible. Others are thrown together quickly, vastly expensive, vague promises, and copy-pasted content.

The difference between a supportive, safe, and structured experience and a disorganised, disappointing one often comes down to the organisation behind it. That’s why doing your research matters.

With more volunteer organisations popping up all the time, it’s easy to be drawn in by slick branding or empty promises. But a website is just a surface. The real test is what happens when things don’t go to plan — who’s there to support you, guide you, and take responsibility.

At PMGY, we encourage every prospective volunteer to ask questions, dig deep, and compare options. We’re confident in what we offer because we know the work, we know our people, and we’ve been doing this for over a decade with thousands of happy volunteers to show for it.

Choose an organisation that shares your values, takes its responsibility seriously, and is clear about where your time and money are going. The right organisation won’t just help you travel — they’ll help you grow.
