Although it isn’t the most exciting part of organising your trip, getting adequate travel insurance is a compulsory part of your PMGY volunteer programme.
PMGY have teamed up with the insurance company Endsleigh to create an affordable and comprehensive travel insurance policy for our volunteers. This optional policy is specifically designed to insure PMGY volunteers for all their travel essentials. The policy is available to anyone up to the age of 65 and covers you throughout any PMGY destination and any onward travel you may arrange (excluding the US and Canada).
If you’d like to purchase insurance from PMGY then you can add this onto your programme during the online application process. Alternatively, you can contact a member of the PMGY team via telephone or email and we can add an insurance policy onto your existing application.
It is really important that you make sure you’re covered for the whole time you are away, this includes the days spent travelling to/from your volunteer destination. One week is considered as 7 days, so when working out which duration of cover to purchase you need to count the days you will be away including the day you fly out and the day you return home.

If you have any pre-existing medical conditions then you must carefully read our terms and conditions as it is your responsibility to make sure that you qualify for the insurance you are purchasing. The policy will generally cover any pre-existing medical conditions as long as they were diagnosed at least 12 months ago and any treatment has not significantly changed within the last 12 months.
